Heather Anacker and Krista Feld were students at CSULB who are also friends who worked together on an SOA gallery called Dwelling. The gallery took place in 2013 and was located in the Gatov Gallery West/ East also in the video, they go through the gallery where they express the inspirations for the gallery. They both also graduated CSULB with a Bachelor in Fine Arts.

Many of their work in the gallery has to do with weaving together different fibers to create things like chairs and suitcases. There are usually muted pastel colors and are fairly large. Another part of the gallery is the tools and wood shavings they use to create their art, these come in all shape and size. Many of the pieces are minimalistic and the texture of most of the woven pieces looks very soft and comfortable.

What they were trying to get across in this gallery is that the generalization of mass-produced products minimizes the value of the products. Another factor that they emphasize is using materials that most people won’t even think of like wood shaving to create unique colors. Minimalism is also something they try to get across in the gallery, they show how they made a room that they can take anywhere and has important things they need.

It was really cool seeing the video because of almost how different their gallery was because you don’t usually see many art dealing with weaving and textiles. The concept of the gallery was also really cool because we don’t usually think about mass produces products as a negative thing because we usually see it as helpful and easy. Also, the minimalist aspect of most of the pieces was also interesting to see like the chair that can be taken pretty much anywhere. It was nice seeing something different and it was awesome seeing people from my school doing something great.
